Senior Citizens Support Ministry was inaugurated as an NGO in 2008. The Ministry was established to celebrate the elderly, to remind us of God’s promise in Psalm 91: 16, “With long life I will satisfy him.”
The Ministry takes care of the elderly of the parish and environs. We visit the elderly in their homes, pray with them, and find out if they need any special attention, either from a doctor or any other medical attention in which case we contact the appropriate group in the church for referral and follow up. We ensure that follow up is conducted until a proper resolution is achieved.
The elderly are celebrated in the church with masses at the following events:
- Galilee (this has now become an outing involving the whole parish).
- Valentine’s Day
- June Feast
- Christmas Party for the Elderly
A typical Christmas party programme includes prayers, Christmas carols, cake cutting and dance.
Senior Citizens Support Ministry meets every second Sunday of the month at the St. Patrick school block, after the 8.30am Mass.
