Parish Office

The parish office is a multi-purpose office with a number of lay people who help out with the various duties and challenges associated with such a large parish like St. Dominic's. The office opens Mondays to Fridays between 8.00 a.m. and 6.30 p.m; and between 8.00 a.m and 12.00 noon on Saturdays, except environmental sanitation days. The Parish Office is quite different from other parish offices. It is equipped to provide satisfactory services to all parishioners and friends. The parish Office is the first in the archdiocese to use computers in recording Baptisms, First Holy Communions, Confirmations and Marriages of parishioners. The computer is also used for registration of parishioners. Put in the simplest form, every Parishioner has a file in the parish office in which every important detail about the parishioner is recorded and can be retrieved in seconds.
This makes it possible for the Church to sort out families and individuals who have problem with marriage, Baptism, First Holy Communion, or Confirmation. Such families and individuals are invited to the parish for assistance. A Reverend Father is always in the Parish Office between 8.30 a.m and 12.00 noon and between 4.30 p.m and 6.30 every Monday to Friday except on Public holidays. The priest in the office may attend to one hundred people daily. These people come from all over Lagos and in fact, the country for prayers and /or counseling on various spiritual, moral, social and emotional problems bothering them, at other time, some come for financial help.
There are also calls for sick people and those in critical conditions. Besides these services, the Parish Office also has a Video Club. This video club is to complement the teachings of the Church, as another form of religious education. Registered Parishioners who register with the club can borrow video tapes for their homes to help them and their families know more about the Catholic faith. The advantages of this club cannot be overemphasized, if for nothing, at least it would help to reduce the patronage of the other video clubs that stock immoral and indecent films and tapes.
Some of the people who worked conscientiously in the parish office are: Christopher Okonkwo (the first clerk of the parish office), Michael Mbanonu, Late Moses Obioha, Stephen Onaivi, Kenny Armah.

At the moment the Parish Office is being run by Emmanuel John (Manager), Donald Odiachi, Peter Mgbeowu, Adetunji Thomas, Chiedu Maduejegbu and Isaac Okocha.
