Parish Clinic

The St. Dominic's clinic, Yaba was officially opened in 1978. Initially it was in the old building together with the Women Development Department before moving to its present location in the YCC building. Sisters Germaine OP and Ligouri O.L.A were pioneer members of staff of the St. Dominic's Clinic. Sister Martha who has been working with the clinic since 1980 is the sister in charge at the clinic and she oversees the day to day running of the clinic. The objective of the clinic is to provide health care delivery to the community. It also educates people against major diseases, and promote; good health care for all and sundry. In terms of structure, the clinic has a consultation room; treatment room; a laboratory and a drug store, all equipped to modern standard.
The services provided in the clinic include laboratory services, optical services, ante-natal services, child welfare and general medical consultation. The clinic also offers HIV/AID counseling along with natural family planning counseling together with material and childcare.
In situations where there is need to refer patients to a specialist, the doctor on duty personally does such referrals. The clinic is open to members of the public irrespective of there religious background. Patronage is quite high and this has led to establishment of an annex at Makoko. The current staff strength at the St. Dominic's clinic is about 20, with about three doctors who operate shifts. A car and an ambulance are assigned for clinic use.
