EASTER 2011
“In resurrectione tua, Christe, coeli et terra laetentur!
In your resurrection, O Christ, let heaven and earth rejoice!” (Liturgy of the Hours).
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Rome and across the world,
Easter morning brings us news that is ancient yet ever new: Christ is risen! The echo of this event, which issued forth from Jerusalem twenty centuries ago, continues to resound in the Church, deep in whose heart lives the vibrant faith of Mary, Mother of Jesus, the faith of Mary Magdalene and the other women who first discovered the empty tomb, and the faith of Peter and the other Apostles.
St. Dominic’s Church was dedicated on the 21st of January 1996 that makes our church fifteen years old this very month in 2011. The axiom, St. Dominic’s is our treasure and our pride, is well known to many St. Dominic’s Parishioner. However, the second aspect of the axiom brings us to personally reflect and make a commitment to St. Dominic’s. The commitment that is being advocated is that which is both spiritual and material as well. In other words, if St. Dominic’s is really a treasure and a pride place of worship that the individual relates as being valuable then the individual should contribute towards its growth. Now the two most essential aspects of our life that is brought into the Mission Statement help to fulfil the need of every parishioner.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ we began the preparation for this very holy season with Ash Wednesday and at this point we get to the peak of our season, the Holy Week. the Holy Week begins with the Passion Sunday or the Palm Sunday. On this very Sunday we celebrate both the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem, where he was hailed – Hosanna to the King of kings. Moments later, never to his surprise anyway, they betrayed him by shouting at the top of their voices – Crucify Him! Crucify Him!!. Let us reflect my dear friends on our gains of that betrayal and shouts.
